Member Protection By-Law

The MPB sets out the procedures to be followed in dealing with complaints of harassment (which includes sexual harassment, racial harassment, sexuality harassment, disability harassment, abuse, child abuse, vilification and discrimination), in an effective, appropriate and timely manner. This includes procedures for informal and formal resolution of complaints and an appeal mechanism.

In summary, the MPB outlines the:

  • responsibilities of community cricket organization and persons under the MPB;
  • screening of Preferred Applicants and Existing Appointees in certain roles;
  • prohibiting Harassment; process for making a complaint;
  • process for hearing a complaint;
  • penalties which can be imposed;
  • appeals process.

The VWCA has developed a resource kit to assist clubs implement the MPB it contains a series of checklists and other important documents and information. The Checklists provided in this Kit were recently updated on August 10th, 2005. Checklist 1 to 3 contacin similar information to that from previous checklists, however are in a different format. Checklist 4 - Screening, is different to the last checklist provided on the screening process. A hard copy of all the new checklists will be provided at the next council meeting, the remainder of the Resource Kit is the same. Checklists are available below to download.
