Clubs should aim to create a Healthy Environment for their members.

A welcoming and safe environment contributes to health and meets community expectations. A healthy environment is achieved when an organisation is accessible to all community members, values its volunteers and participants, provides smoke-free areas, adopts sun-protection measures, provides healthy food choices and ensures responsible alcohol management practices are in place when conducting events or activities.

Developing a Health and Safety Policy at your club shows your members and potential members that you have their interests in mind which can in turn contribute to recruiting and retaining members.

VicSport has some very useful information on different policies and VicHealth has produced "A basic guide to creating healthy environments" brochure to assist your club. Click here to download a copy.

Pregnancy in Cricket

Are you aware that continued participation in cricket during pregnancy poses theoretical risks to you and your unborn child?

It is recommended that pregnant players notify the club of their pregnancy and seek advice from an appropriately qualified medical practitioner as to:

  • the risks invovled in participating in cricket while pregnant
  • whether it is safe for you to continue participating in cricket while preganant and, if so, for how long should you continue to participate.
